Deal Snapshot
US-based Advanced Polymer Coatings and EU-based HOYER Group Reflect on a Successful Working Relationship 20+ Years in the Making
Since 2001, Advanced Polymer Coatings and HOYER Group have built a partnership spanning over two decades, from an initial two-tank trial to a fleet protecting the world's leading chemical manufacturers, with a particular focus on the agricultural chemical market.
Overview
Two family-founded companies, one shared standard for quality.
Both Advanced Polymer Coatings (APC) and HOYER Group began as family-based companies and have grown into respected global names in their respective industries. Founded in 1946 in Hamburg, Germany, HOYER has become a leading provider of logistics solutions for the chemical, petroleum, gas, and food industries. APC, founded in 1997 in Avon, Ohio, built its reputation around ChemLINE® 784, a patented polymer coating system engineered to protect tanks from corrosion and chemical attack in aggressive service environments.
How It Started
A two-tank trial that grew into a 15-tank Rotterdam project.
The relationship between APC and HOYER began in 2001 through a connection between APC Global Tank Manager Martin Kilroe and HOYER's technical team. Seeking a versatile tank coating with strong chemical resistance, HOYER first applied ChemLINE® 784/32 to two ISO tank containers.
Following that initial success, the companies completed a larger project in Rotterdam, lining 15 ISO tanks within three weeks for a client. Many of those original tanks remain in service today with their original ChemLINE® lining.
A History Rooted in Success
Two decades transporting the industry's most aggressive cargoes.
Through the years, APC and HOYER have safely transported the most aggressive Class 8 cargoes for the industry's leading chemical manufacturers, with a heavy focus on the Agricultural Chemical Manufacturing Market, particularly the production of herbicides and pesticides.
Choosing a tank lining requires a team of experts and a degree of calculated risk; often treated as a sacrificial layer, lining quality can be overlooked in favor of the cheapest option available. HOYER instead invested in both a quality coating system and a quality applicator network, relying on APC's approved applicators across Europe, China, and the US to maintain its ChemLINE®-lined fleet.
- Safely transported aggressive Class 8 cargoes for two decades
- Heavy focus on agricultural chemical manufacturing — herbicides and pesticides
- Original Rotterdam-lined tanks remain in service today
- Supported by APC's approved applicator network across three continents
Looking Ahead
A partnership built on trust, expanding into new specialty markets.
Reliability and trust have defined the APC–HOYER relationship since HOYER took a chance on ChemLINE® more than two decades ago. The partnership continues to grow alongside the industry, including smaller manufacturers mixing raw materials into customized, specialty-based fertilizer compounds, a segment both companies see as a continued source of growth.
